Eagles game road closures may slow travel to Olivia Rodrigo concert in South Philadelphia
Concertgoers headed to Olivia Rodrigo's Sunday show at Xfinity Mobile Arena could run into road closures tied to the Eagles game at the nearby stadium, according to CBS Philadelphia and NBC10 Philadelphia.
Both outlets reported that police plan to close roads around the South Philadelphia Sports Complex from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8, to move traffic out of the parking lots after the football game. The Eagles face the New York Giants at 1 p.m., and CBS Philadelphia said the game is expected to end around 4 p.m.
During the closure period, vehicles will not be permitted to enter the Sports Complex, the outlets reported. NBC10 noted that the restriction applies even to drivers who have already paid for parking.
The arena announced the closures in a social media post, according to both outlets. CBS Philadelphia reported that the Sunday performance is Rodrigo's second show in the city on "The Unraveled Tour." NBC10 reported that doors open at 6 p.m.
Arena officials are advising fans to ride SEPTA's Broad Street Line, which the transit agency now calls the B, or to time their arrival so they reach the area before or after the closure window, both outlets reported. NBC10 said the arena also urged those who plan to drive to buy parking in advance where possible, which it said would help speed entry when the roads are open.
For out-of-town visitors who must drive but would prefer to skip the Sports Complex lots, CBS Philadelphia suggested parking in a garage near a B line station and taking the train to the arena.
SEPTA also promoted the subway as an option for the weekend's concerts, CBS Philadelphia reported, sharing a playful message on Instagram on Saturday encouraging Rodrigo fans to take the B train to the show.
The overlap of the NFL game and the arena concert means the Sports Complex will host two large events on the same day. Officials quoted by NBC10 asked attendees to plan their trips with the closure schedule in mind.
