About True News
We report the news. We cover who represents you and who funds them, what is happening in our communities, and we end every edition with something good.
No political affiliation
True News is not affiliated with any political party, candidate or campaign, and we do not endorse anyone. We report what officials do and what the public record shows, and we let readers decide.
- Officials are listed by office, never grouped or ranked by party. Party is shown exactly as official records list it.
- Funding figures, bills and weather come straight from official sources (FEC, Congress.gov, National Weather Service), unedited, with links.
- Stories must separate fact from opinion, and claims about officials must cite sources.
- Our pre-screening flags one-sided or loaded wording so the editor can ask for balance before publishing.
How stories are published
- A volunteer shares a story.
- An automated pre-check flags possible problems, such as claims without sources or private personal details.
- A human editor reads every story and decides whether to publish it. Nothing is published automatically.
- Stories about officials must cite their sources, and those sources are shown with the story.
Corrections
If something we published is wrong, tell us and we will review it promptly. Corrections are noted on the story. Use Share a story and choose the section of the story concerned, with “Correction” in the headline.
Campaign finance data
Funding figures come directly from the Federal Election Commission and link to the official record. We do not edit them.
