Gloucester Township police shot an armed person outside a CVS Pharmacy on Friday, Nov. 6, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office, as cited by several Philadelphia-area news outlets.

The gunfire occurred on the 700 block of College Drive. 6abc Action News put the time at roughly 4:45 p.m., and NBC10 said it was Friday afternoon, while CBS Philadelphia described it as happening Friday night. Accounts of the exact spot also varied slightly: CBS Philadelphia said the shooting was near the store, and NBC10 said it was outside it.

CBS Philadelphia and 6abc reported that the wounded person was brought to Cooper University Hospital. According to 6abc, authorities called the injuries non-fatal but did not say more about the person's condition. No officers were reported injured.

Two township officers were involved, CBS Philadelphia reported, citing prosecutors. What prompted the shooting has not been disclosed. 6abc reported that the prosecutor's office declined to share more information, saying it wanted to avoid compromising its inquiry, which remains open.

A CVS spokesperson told NBC10 the company was working with investigators and that nobody inside, including shoppers, patients and staff, was hurt. The location and its pharmacy were shut during the police response, and the company suggested patients with urgent prescription needs use other CVS stores in the area, NBC10 reported.

Crime scene tape surrounded the property. CBS Philadelphia counted at least a dozen patrol vehicles around the building and said the township had deployed its mobile command center. Shoppers were seen talking with officers by the front doors, the station reported.

One witness told 6abc she had pulled into a Dunkin' close by, planning to get coffee ahead of her kids' school pickup, when she heard what sounded like one or two shots and saw people hurrying away.

Justin Fortini, a nearby resident who did not witness the shooting, told CBS Philadelphia the large police presence was unsettling. "You want to make sure it's safe, and it's just scary and nerve-racking," he said.

Authorities have not released the name of the person who was shot, and no information about possible charges has been made public.
