Nicole Taylor, a member of the country music trio Taylor Red, has died at age 35, according to a statement from her sisters posted on the group's official website, ABC7 New York and other ABC-owned stations reported.

The statement said Taylor died on Sept. 28, 2026. Her family has already held a private funeral, the stations reported.

Taylor performed with her triplet sisters, Nika and Natalie Taylor. In an Instagram video released Monday, the two sisters said Nicole had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in 2022, according to ABC13 Houston.

The sisters said she first responded well to chemotherapy and was at one point told she was free of evidence of the disease. Doctors later found the cancer had advanced to Stage 4. The sisters said she was given about three months to live after that diagnosis but survived roughly another year. The stations' accounts also cite Nika Taylor describing a more serious diagnosis that came about nine months after the earlier one; the reports do not give exact dates for each stage of her illness.

In the video, the sisters described how she approached her illness, saying she kept exercising, including doing CrossFit while undergoing chemotherapy, and continued to travel and work. "She tried not to live in fear, remained really hopeful," Natalie Taylor said, as reported by ABC11.

The sisters also said Nicole held a strong religious faith throughout her life. "We are still shocked and didn't think this would happen," Nika Taylor said in the video, according to 6abc Action News.

The Taylor sisters were born on March 18, 1991. According to the ABC stations, they started performing together in 2010 under the name Red Roots and released a self-titled first album the following year. Two more albums followed: "The Middle of Nowhere" in 2012 and "Triplicity" in 2014.

In 2015, the group signed with Inpop Records and took the name Taylor Red. The trio released the song "Country Money" in 2021, the stations reported.

The reports did not say where Taylor died or whether her surviving sisters plan to continue performing as a group.
