The Justice Department announced charges on Nov. 2, 2026, involving 63 people in connection with illegal voting, fraudulent voter registration and related election crimes across the country, according to a department release.

The department said the cases include alleged voting by noncitizens in federal elections, false claims of U.S. citizenship to register or vote, and the fraudulent submission of a voter registration application in another state. Four of those charged are in the country illegally, the department said. Many others named in the release are lawful permanent residents.

Cases were brought in federal districts in states including Georgia, Texas, Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, New Jersey and Wisconsin. In the Eastern District of North Carolina, one defendant allegedly registered in 2000 and voted in 12 general elections, the department said. In New Jersey, two lawful permanent residents are also charged with allegedly falsely stating on citizenship applications that they had never voted.

Attorney General Todd Blanche called the announcement "the largest surge of voter-fraud arrests since President Trump returned to office" and said the department would continue investigating and prosecuting voter fraud.

The department said it has charged 195 noncitizens across 25 states with illegal voting and registration offenses in the past nine weeks, and 239 people with voting fraud-related offenses since the start of the administration.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
