Shooting investigation closes Porchtown Road in Franklin Township, Gloucester County
Police closed a section of Porchtown Road in Franklin Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey, early Monday as they investigated a shooting at a residence, according to 6abc Action News and NBC10 Philadelphia.
6abc said the police response began at roughly 12:45 a.m. Monday at a house on the 1200 block of Porchtown Road. The station said it was told there was a single victim. It added that the victim's condition and the identity of the shooter had not been disclosed.
NBC10's report did not confirm an injury. That station said it was unclear early Monday whether the shooting hurt anyone, and also unclear whether police had taken anyone into custody.
NBC10 reported that the closed stretch ran from Royal Avenue to Frontage Road, in the Franklinville part of the township. The station said it became aware of the closure at about 1 a.m., and that New Jersey State Police confirmed around 3 a.m. that a shooting investigation was the reason.
Traffic was still blocked at about 5 a.m., NBC10 reported. Police urged motorists to take other routes during the investigation, according to the station, which noted the closure came as Monday commuters began heading to work.
Neither station reported a possible motive, a description of any suspect, or how anyone involved might be connected. Police had shared few other details in the early morning hours.
According to 6abc, authorities said more information would likely be released a few hours later.
True News will update this story as officials provide more details, including the condition of any victim and when the road reopens.
