Trump attends Mar-a-Lago Halloween party in his usual suit, saying he came as himself

President Donald Trump went without a costume at his Halloween party at Mar-a-Lago late Saturday, telling reporters he had dressed as himself, according to a Gray News report carried by Dakota News Now, Live 5 News, KFYR and WKYT.

The party had a jungle theme, Gray News reported. Trump arrived in the dark navy suit and red tie he typically wears in public.

"I came as Donald Trump," the president told reporters, according to the report.

Trump contrasted his own preparation with that of his guests, saying wealthy attendees had invested considerable time and money in their outfits, with some spending nine hours getting ready. "I had 10 minutes, so I came as Donald Trump," he said, as quoted by Gray News.

Hundreds of people filled the Mar-a-Lago ballroom for the event, Gray News reported. Trump said the crowd included several leading figures from Wall Street, according to the report. The outlets did not name any of the guests.

Vice President JD Vance spent the holiday in Washington, Gray News reported, citing The New York Times. According to that account, Vance dressed as Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster from the Harry Potter series, as part of a Harry Potter costume theme with his family.

The Halloween appearance came during a week of changing plans for the president's travel schedule. Trump had initially been set to hold a rally in Kansas on Saturday and another in Iowa on Sunday, according to Gray News. Both events were called off on Thursday.

On Friday, the rallies were reinstated, Gray News reported, with both now planned for Sunday. The report did not give a reason for the cancellation or for the decision to restore the events, and it did not provide details on the locations or times of the rescheduled rallies.
