VA highlights employment resources for Veterans at October community network meeting
Employment was the focus of the October VetResources Community Network (VRCN) Monthly Connect, where VA leaders and community partners shared resources to help transitioning service members, Veterans and their families pursue education, training and careers, the Department of Veterans Affairs said.
According to VA, Lynda C. Davis, the department's chief Veterans experience officer, opened the session by stressing job readiness for Veterans moving to civilian life. Margarita Devlin, principal deputy under secretary for benefits, highlighted the Veteran Readiness and Employment program and G.I. Bill benefits. "VA's Veteran Readiness and Employment program and G.I. Bill programs equip Veterans with the skills and training they need to compete in today's workforce and build meaningful, long-term careers—not just find jobs," Devlin said. She urged partners to raise awareness of apprenticeships, VET TEC 2.0, career counseling and federal jobs on USAJOBS, and noted that VA continues to hire Veterans nationwide, the department said.
Student Veterans of America also described expanding services, including its MySVA platform and support for apprenticeships, certifications and trade schools, according to VA. The group's 19th annual national conference is scheduled for Jan. 4-6, 2027, in Grapevine, Texas, and will include an on-site VA claims clinic.
VA said organizations serving Veterans and military families are encouraged to join the VRCN.
