VA highlights community events at medical centers in recruitment feature
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs published a feature on October 27, 2026, describing community-building events at several of its medical centers as part of its recruitment outreach for healthcare and support staff. According to the department, the Tomah VA Medical Center in Tomah, Wisconsin, held its annual fishing tournament this summer for about 40 Veterans living in its Community Living Center and Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program. The VA said staff from multiple departments, including groundskeeping, dietetics, food service and recreation, worked on the event. The department said the Lebanon VA Medical Center in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, also held Vet Fest this summer, which it described as the center's largest outreach event of the year. The VA said the event included a car show, live music, food trucks and a benefits and job fair where specialists discussed benefits, eligibility and enrollment with Veterans. Medical Center director Jeffery A. Beiler II said the event aimed to make it easier for Veterans to connect with benefits and services. The feature also quoted employees at the New Orleans and Durham VA Medical Centers describing workplace connections, including a staff-organized events committee in Durham. The VA said it is seeking qualified healthcare providers and support staff and directed interested applicants to VA Careers.
