Car crashes into Woodland Township home, setting it on fire; at least two reported hurt
A car crashed into a house in Woodland Township, Burlington County, New Jersey, on Monday afternoon, and the home caught fire, with at least two people injured, according to 6abc Action News.
6abc reported that the crash happened shortly before 3 p.m. on Monday, October 26, on the 4200 block of Pemberton Avenue. CBS Philadelphia gave the same block. NBC10 Philadelphia placed the incident on the 4000 block of the road.
Outlets differed on what was known about injuries. 6abc said at least two people were hurt and that their conditions were not immediately known. CBS Philadelphia and NBC10 both reported that it was unclear whether anyone had been injured.
CBS Philadelphia reported that crews were sent to the address after reports that a vehicle had struck the home and started a fire, citing the Hampton Lakes Volunteer Fire Company. The station said the fire company described the situation as serious in a post on Facebook.
Aerial footage from CBS Philadelphia's helicopter showed a vehicle wedged into the side of the house, and the station said the home suffered significant fire damage. NBC10's helicopter also flew over the scene. The station reported heavy damage to part of the house, including a burned section of roof and framing left exposed, as well as a badly burned vehicle near the home while firefighters worked.
Authorities asked people to stay away from the area, according to CBS Philadelphia.
The cause of the crash had not been determined, CBS Philadelphia reported, and NBC10 said it was not clear what started the fire. None of the outlets identified the driver or anyone else involved, and none reported whether any charges were being considered.
6abc said further details about the crash were not immediately available. NBC10 described the incident as a developing story.
Woodland Township is a largely rural community in Burlington County, across the Delaware River from Philadelphia. The outlets' reports were published Monday as fire crews remained at the scene, and officials had not released additional information about the people hurt or how the vehicle came to leave the roadway and strike the house.
