Jaguars beat Eagles 19-17 on last-second 57-yard field goal in London
The Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 19-17 on Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London when kicker Cam Little made a 57-yard field goal as time ran out, 6abc Action News reported.
The Eagles had gone ahead 17-16 with eight seconds remaining on a 48-yard field goal by Jake Elliott, according to 6abc. That chance came after Little missed an extra point wide left following a 27-yard touchdown catch by Parker Washington late in the fourth quarter.
Jacksonville answered on the ensuing kickoff. Ameer Abdullah returned it 53 yards, leaving one second on the clock and setting up Little's game-winning kick, 6abc reported.
CBS Philadelphia described Eagles fans as having celebrated before the game was over, and reported that one fan called the defeat "soul-crushing."
The loss dropped Philadelphia to 2-3, a record the team had not held since 2021, according to 6abc. The Eagles played without running back Saquon Barkley and receiver DeVonta Smith and used a patched-together offensive line. Jacksonville improved to 4-1.
Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw for 331 yards on 24 of 39 passing, with two touchdowns to Washington and one interception, 6abc reported. His first scoring pass, a 51-yard throw to Washington, put Jacksonville up 7-0.
Philadelphia responded with two touchdowns. Will Shipley ran in from 2 yards out to cap a 13-play drive that lasted more than seven minutes, aided by a pass interference penalty on Travis Hunter. Jalen Hurts then threw a 62-yard touchdown pass to Darius Cooper, giving the Eagles a 14-7 lead before a crowd that 6abc said was heavily made up of Philadelphia fans.
That lead held at halftime after linebacker Zack Baun stopped Bhayshul Tuten for a loss on a fourth-and-goal try from the 1-yard line with one second left in the half, according to 6abc. Hurts finished 21 of 40 for 220 yards and one touchdown. Defensive lineman Jalen Carter recorded two sacks and forced two fumbles.
The game opened with a scuffle. A 90-yard kickoff return by Jaguars rookie Josh Cameron was wiped out by offsetting penalties, and a scrum at midfield led to the ejections of Jacksonville's Bryan Thomas Jr. and Philadelphia's Jeremiah Trotter Jr., 6abc reported.
Several players were hurt during the game. For the Eagles, Jalyx Hunt was helped off at the end of the first half, Shipley left with a foot injury and Michael Carter was ruled out in the third quarter, according to 6abc. Jaguars left tackle Anton Harrison was carted off with an apparent knee injury.
The Eagles host the Carolina Panthers next Sunday. The Jaguars remain in London to face the Houston Texans at Wembley Stadium.
