The custom Acura NSX roadster built for Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark character in Marvel's 2012 film "The Avengers" is being sold through an online auction, Gray News reported in a story carried by 1011 Now, Valley News Live, WBTV and WCAX.

The vehicle is listed on Cars & Bids, a website that auctions automobiles. According to the reports, which carried a Torrance, California, dateline, the listing had attracted 15 bidders as of Sunday. The highest offer at that point was $98,000.

The roadster appears near the end of "The Avengers." The outlets reported that it was custom-made for the movie to accompany Downey's portrayal of Stark, the billionaire inventor who is also the armored superhero Iron Man.

The car comes with major restrictions on its use. The auction listing describes the NSX as a single, one-of-a-kind concept vehicle, according to the reports. The listing also states that the car cannot be registered or titled and cannot be legally driven on public roads.

Those limits mean the roadster is not offered as a vehicle for ordinary street use, based on the listing's description as reported by the outlets.

The reports did not say when the auction is scheduled to end, who is selling the car, or whether the seller has set a minimum price that bidding must reach. They also did not include any estimate of what the car might ultimately sell for.

All four outlets published the same account, which was originally produced by WBRC and distributed by Gray News. None of the outlets reported details that differed from the others, and none included comment from the seller, the auction site, Acura or Marvel.

The bid total and number of participants reflect the status of the auction as of Sunday and may have changed since the reports were published.
