Former President Barack Obama campaigned for Democratic candidates in Ohio and Michigan on Saturday, criticizing President Donald Trump and his Republican allies as early voting continues in the midterm elections, according to 6abc Action News. Trump cast his own ballot in Florida the same day before heading to a rally in Georgia.

The midterms, scheduled for Nov. 3, will decide control of Congress, and 6abc reported that millions of Americans have already voted.

In Ohio, Obama targeted Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy over an ad featuring the estranged mother of his Democratic opponent, Dr. Amy Acton. 6abc reported that Ohio Republican leaders, including Gov. Mike DeWine, have urged that the ad be pulled, while Trump and Vice President JD Vance have defended it. "In recent days, we've seen there is no line he will not cross, no low he will not sink to," Obama said of Ramaswamy, according to 6abc.

CBS Philadelphia reported that Obama also told the Ohio audience that Trump is paying more attention to vanity projects than to the economy.

Later, at a high school gym in Detroit, Obama defended Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed against critics he suggested were attacking El-Sayed's name and faith. "We have seen this movie before. I starred in it," Obama said, according to 6abc, referencing past questions about his own birth certificate.

Obama acknowledged Trump will remain in office for two more years but urged voters to change Congress and governors' offices, 6abc reported. He is scheduled to appear next week at a Georgia rally with Sen. Jon Ossoff and gubernatorial candidate Keisha Lance Bottoms.

Trump and first lady Melania Trump voted at the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections office in West Palm Beach, according to 6abc. Trump said he voted for Republicans across the ballot. Speaking to reporters, he again defended the Ramaswamy ad.

According to 6abc, Trump also defended directing his administration to sue to block certification of Alaska's U.S. Senate race if Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan loses, citing the presence of a second candidate with the same name on the ballot. Asked about the war in Iran, Trump said he might have to finish it or that a deal could be reached.

In Florida, 6abc reported, Trump has endorsed Republican Rep. Byron Donalds for governor against Democrat David Jolly, and has campaigned for Republican Sen. Ashley Moody, who faces state lawmaker Angie Nixon in the race for the remainder of Secretary of State Marco Rubio's former Senate term.

CBS Philadelphia also noted that early voting has begun in New Jersey for the 2026 midterm elections.
