A Phoenix, Arizona, man was sentenced to four months in prison and his company was ordered to cease operations and forfeit $1.8 million in connection with the illegal sale of selective androgen receptor modulators (SARMs), the Justice Department said on October 21, 2026. According to the department, Jeffrey McIndoo and his company, JeffMac Investments LLC, doing business as SARMS Pharm LLC, were sentenced following earlier guilty pleas. McIndoo, the owner and operator of SARMS Pharm, admitted to introducing an unapproved drug into interstate commerce, and the company pleaded guilty to conspiracy to smuggle SARMs from China into the United States. The department said SARMs mimic the effects of anabolic steroids when ingested and are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Between 2017 and 2022, SARMS Pharm earned gross profits of at least $3.5 million from selling SARMs, according to the release. Judge Sharad H. Desai of the District of Arizona sentenced McIndoo to four months in prison and a $1,000 fine, and ordered the company shut down and the forfeiture of $1.8 million in proceeds. Assistant Attorney General Brett A. Shumate of the Civil Division said the defendants circumvented federal safeguards designed to protect public health. The FDA's Office of Criminal Investigations investigated the case, the department said.
