Bagley Enterprises update: a live commodity service, a drone-capture concept and local news in every state
Disclosure: True News is a Bagley Enterprises platform, and this story is about our parent company and its owner. It was reviewed under the same standards as every story we publish. Facts about the company come from its own published materials and are attributed as such. This update replaces our September 30 profile.
Bagley Enterprises, a family-led operating company in the Philadelphia area, has moved several projects forward since True News launched on October 1: its commodity information service is now live, its drone division has shown its capture system for the first time, and True News is adding local newsrooms in all 50 states.
The company's chief executive, Len Bagley, came up through the skilled trades and studied Information Technology and Software Engineering, according to the company. Its chief technology officer, Dr. Shamara P. Collins, holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida, with a specialization in renewable energy and thin-film solar systems, according to the company.
Sentinel is live
Sentinel, the company's commodity information service, is now running at sentinel.bagleyenterprises.net. It is built for farmers and small businesses whose costs and income move with commodity prices but who are priced out of professional trading terminals. Sentinel tracks prices and short-range forecasts for 29 commodities across energy, grains, metals, softs and livestock. It adds weekly positions of large traders from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Treasury rates, the dollar and inflation from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, and prices received by farmers from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The company says its forecasts are statistical estimates for information only, not advice to buy or sell. The company is seeking early investment and research partners for Sentinel.
A drone that catches drones
Bagley Aerospace, the company's drone division, has released a concept animation of what it calls the Dual-Path Capture System. In the concept, an interceptor drone fires capture darts that lock onto an intruding drone and stop its motors, and a second recovery drone latches onto the darts and carries the intruder to a safe landing zone, so nothing falls on people below. The company says a patent is pending, the hardware is in development, and the animation is a concept, not flight footage. It says it is pursuing research funding for the system.
News in every state
True News, the publication you are reading, is adding local newsrooms in every state and the District of Columbia to its local news panel, which shows readers the stories from their own state and city first. The change followed a gap the editor found on October 10, when True News had no Philadelphia newsrooms among its sources on the day a Philadelphia police officer was killed in the line of duty. True News also tracks the national debt, prices, jobs and gas on its economy page, follows campaign money for every 2026 congressional race, and publishes community stories after an editor reviews them. A Business Spotlight features Black-owned businesses free for 30 days, and each business answers the same standard interview.
The rest of the company
Maintenance 215 provides contract facilities maintenance, janitorial services and light construction across Philadelphia and nearby counties, and BF Supplies sells cleaning supplies, including the company's own Lemon Blast and Orange Blast products. Community Report shares verified information about missing Black Americans, adults and children, after a moderator approves each report. The Maintenance Academy, an online trades training program, is applying to Pennsylvania's State Board of Private Licensed Schools and says it will open enrollment once the state approves it. Black Box, an online marketplace built around Black American products and makers and open to all sellers, remains in development. The company is also developing a service that turns photos into 3D-printed memorial busts.
