VA News guest post profiles Navy veteran who opened Oklahoma painting franchise
A guest post published by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs on its VA News site profiles Navy veteran Nick Hernandez-Sepper, who opened Oklahoma's first PAINT CORPS franchise in early April 2026. The post was written by Lucy Robinson, vice president of franchise development at Veteran Service Brands, the company behind PAINT CORPS.
According to the post, Hernandez-Sepper served eight years as a naval flight officer and later worked in finance for defense contractors. He learned about the franchise through a conversation with a friend at Sherwin-Williams. He was looking for work that would give him more time with his family.
The post says that before committing, he reviewed the franchise disclosure document, contacted existing owners and asked 15 local painters for estimates on his own house. Veteran Service Brands also conducted a market study. The post notes that an independent franchise attorney and accountant can help prospective buyers evaluate such documents.
According to the post, his first job was finished in four days. He has since hired a project manager and bought a second vehicle.
Veteran Service Brands operates five service franchise brands, which are open to veterans and other qualified entrepreneurs. The VA page states that references to commercial products or services do not necessarily constitute or imply endorsement by the U.S. government.
