A 34-year-old man died and four other people were wounded when gunfire erupted early Sunday on the 2800 block of North Lawrence Street in North Philadelphia, according to police information reported by three local outlets.

Citing a police release, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that officers were sent to the block at about 4:11 a.m. for a report of gunshots. 6abc Action News said police received the call at roughly 4:15 a.m., while CBS Philadelphia placed the shooting just after 4 a.m.

The outlets identified the neighborhood differently. The Inquirer and CBS Philadelphia said it was Fairhill, while 6abc said Kensington. According to 6abc, the shots were fired inside the Vari Lounge. CBS Philadelphia said evidence markers had been placed outside the Vari bar and lounge, close to Cambria Street.

The Inquirer and CBS Philadelphia both reported that the man who was killed had wounds to his chest and back; 6abc said he was struck multiple times in the back. Officers drove him to Temple University Hospital, and doctors there declared him dead at around 4:42 a.m., the Inquirer reported. Police had not identified him by Sunday afternoon.

The Inquirer gave the following account of the wounded. Police brought three of them to Temple University Hospital: a man, 36, with a gunshot wound to the abdomen; a woman with injuries to her right arm, right wrist and left leg; and a second woman who was grazed on the head and left arm. A fourth person, described as a man in his 30s, showed up at the same hospital by himself after being shot in the left arm. None of the injured had been publicly named.

Reports on the conditions of the wounded did not agree. According to the Inquirer, police said all four were stable as of Sunday afternoon. CBS Philadelphia, which described three injured people besides the man who died, said those three were stable. 6abc said two of the four wounded were in critical condition.

Police had offered no description of a shooter and no explanation of what preceded the gunfire, CBS Philadelphia reported. None of the three outlets reported that anyone had been arrested.
