Woman charged with homicide in stabbing deaths of husband and 3-year-old son at Poconos Great Wolf Lodge

Prosecutors have filed two counts of criminal homicide against a 27-year-old Towanda woman whose husband and 3-year-old son were found fatally stabbed Monday inside a room at the Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun, Monroe County, according to court records cited by several outlets.

Metallica Rose Harrison is accused of killing Charles Harrison and the couple's toddler. Both the Philadelphia Inquirer and NBC10 said she phoned 911 at roughly 3:13 p.m. and asked the dispatcher for help dying. CBS Philadelphia gave the time officers responded as about 3:15 p.m.

NBC10 reported that during the call she said her husband and son were "already gone." Pocono Township police arriving at the room saw wounds on her wrist and neck, outlets reported, and she told them she wished to be with her family.

Officers then discovered Charles Harrison dead with several chest wounds and the boy dead from one wound to the chest. The outlets' descriptions of the scene vary somewhat: NBC10 said the father and child were together on a floor mattress, while CBS Philadelphia placed the father on the mattress and the boy on the floor.

NBC10 and CBS Philadelphia reported that detectives recovered two green-handled knives, a large one in the bathroom and a smaller one at the sink, and that resort staff said such knives are not supplied there. Investigators also noted suspected blood in a plastic container and a bathroom trash can, plus medication bottles scattered around the room.

While being driven to a hospital by ambulance, Harrison allegedly said, "It wasn't supposed to end like this. I was supposed to have my happy family," according to court filings reported by several outlets. CBS Philadelphia said she refused to talk with police once at the hospital.

Records show the family arrived at the resort Sept. 21. FOX 29, NBC10 and CBS Philadelphia said the booking was lengthened on Oct. 5 to run until Oct. 13. NBC10 reported that security cameras captured the three going into the room just before 7 p.m. Sunday, then the parents visiting the arcade from about 10:43 to 11:22 p.m. Cameras recorded nothing more from the family afterward.

At a Tuesday press briefing, Monroe County District Attorney Michael Mancuso described a "violent domestic tragedy," the Inquirer reported, and said the reason behind it remains a puzzle.

In a written statement, the resort called it an isolated family matter and said it is assisting investigators. According to NBC10, Harrison faces a preliminary hearing Oct. 21, and no defense lawyer appeared in court filings. FOX 29 reported that Charles Harrison's relatives launched an online campaign to pay for funeral expenses.
